Let all that you do be done in love. 1 Cor. 16:14
I sit here savoring one of the last cookies from my grandma. I froze them two months back after she visited. Little did I know, it would be her last trip. To me she was still so full of life. I savor the memories. So precious. She was one of the dearest souls to me. She will be greatly missed.
Going to grandma’s house was always a great treat. I knew I would be spoiled and well fed. My grandmother was an amazing cook and an extraordinary baker. Her cakes, pies and kuka (German sweets) are famous. Her baking was a true expression of her love. All that she did was done in love.
A bag of candy in her purse always accompanied her warm greeting and embrace. The sweetness of her generosity – a lasting legacy. Freely she gave and freely we received. A testimony of grace.
Grace abounds in small and undeserving acts of love to both the just and the unjust. Like the prodigal son coming home to dine with the servants. Instead, he was fully embraced and his return was celebrated with a feast. Grace poured over his weary body and wounded soul. A sweet testimony of the father’s love.
I need that measure of love poured over me in little bite-size pieces or engulfed with a warm embrace.
Savor Love
Cookies. Candy. Freely Given. Embrace Grace.
