Imperfect to Perfect

And when anyone offers a sacrifice of peace offerings to the LORD to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering from the herd or from the flock, to be accepted it must be perfect; there shall be no blemish in it. Leviticus 22:21

…but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. 1 Corinthians 13:10

Today I ordered pounds of imperfect fruits and veggies that will be delivered to my door for a fraction of the cost. This to me is amazing…not just the convenience factor, but the marketing to people like me who do not mind imperfections and love a deal. I am in no way endorsing the company or product, but love the idea of farm fresh produce (like a grew up with on our farm) and helping eliminate food waste. This also got me thinking about my own imperfections…which I can easily point out and my husband could too! Not sure I would go around advertising them to others. The reason for these imperfections is a three letter word…SIN.

Separation
Imperfections are evident in all of us, but not tolerated by most of us. After Adam and Eve sinned and left God’s perfect creation, the imperfections grew and thus separation from God and His perfect world grew farther apart. People started trying to look to be gods themselves instead of relying on the one true God.

God also did not want imperfections in his sacrifice in the Old Testament. For good reason, God is holy. He wanted His people to see how the creation He gave them was perfect and that their pride/sin was imperfect and required a perfect sacrifice to cover their imperfect world.

Cover Up
When Adam and Eve sinned they also wanted to cover up themselves because their eyes were open. The first sacrifice was made and clothes were given to cover up their imperfections. Women (myself included) spend lots of money or hours in the gym trying to cover up or get rid of those imperfections. The beauty industry or O Magazine tells me I can conceal my imperfections. Not really! All of us are riddled with imperfections.

Perfect Source
The cool thing about my imperfections, both physically, emotionally and spiritually is that there is a person who is willing not only to buy them…He died for them! The next time I look at my own imperfections or that of others, I hope to see them with a fresh set of eyes. Christ came and died for them, just like He did for me. We all are imperfect ‘produce’ being chosen and covered up by the perfect source -Jesus.
