Healthy Eyes

Who does great things beyond searching out, and marvelous things beyond number. Behold, he passes by me, and I see him not; he moves on, but I do not perceive him. Job 19:27-29

Lots of fruits, veggies and lean meats are said to be good for the eyes. According to WebMD, red bell peppers give you the most Vitamin C per calorie – good for the blood vessels in your eyes. However, it is best to eat them raw, because cooking will break down the vitamin content of your veggies. I currently have 20/20 vision, but I don’t want to take that for granted. Sometimes, I can be blinded by my own short sightedness.
There are two types of people. Those that can see and those that are blind. This is a powerful statement from a powerful source. Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.” (John 9:39) Daily, I am faced with acknowledging truth in my life. Conviction (over condemnation).
In the Bible, there was a man blind from birth whom Jesus healed on the Sabbath. This caused an uproar among the Pharisees and chief priests. They wanted to condemn Jesus for healing on the Sabbath. The parents were questioned about their son’s healing and because they feared condemnation over conviction (and did not want to be kicked out of the synagogue). They put their once blind son on the ‘chopping block’ to be banished instead. He rose to the occasion and eloquently stated his beliefs. He had eyes to see and a heart to believe. Seeing as believing and seeing as guilt. Conviction over condemnation.
That day a miracle was performed. The son’s eyes were opened. Unfortunately, his parents’ eyes and Pharisees were blinded. His heart was opened and theirs was closed to conviction. The blind man could see from the inside out who he was and who to follow. God’s works were mightily on display that day as they are everyday. He continues to open my eyes to His miracles. Even this week, while writing this post, my eyes were opened with the foresight to see my oldest is halfway to adulthood. I have only 9 more years to model, teach and train her to live a life with healthy eyesight. Even in my tiredness, I need to have eyes wide opened to see what she can not see and point her to her ultimate Guide.  My eyes must stay healthy.

Healthy Eyes
Healing. Condemnation. Conviction. Miracle.

How healthy is my eyesight? What am I currently blinded to in myself?
